This post is a little late, but it's been tough to find time to write with all our late evenings. I did a wrap-up of the mountains phase previously, so this post covers the time from Atlanta to Orlando. That's really only a few days, but it doesn't fit in with anything else.
I didn't explicitly say this last time, but my opinions are based on my brief time in each place. 24 hours is really only enough to assess what a 1-3 day vacation might be like in an area. That means that while I was disappointed by Montgomery, I'm sure there are very nice areas that we weren't able to see. Similarly, some of our favorite places may be terrible places to live but provide the perfect 24 hour vacation.
One of the objectives of this trip was to scout out places we might want to return to in the future. I think we've been able to do that so far.
With that said, here's the best and worst from Montgomery, Mobile, and the first night in Orlando.
Best Meal - Paisley Cafe - Tallahassee, FL
Best Activity - USS Alabama - Mobile, ALBest Hotel - Townplace Suites - Orlando, FLBiggest Surprise - Downtown Mobile Walk- Mobile, ALBest City - Mobile, AL
Worst Meal - Brick Pit Barbecue - Mobile, AL (not counting free hotel breakfasts)Worst Activity - Montgomery Civil Rights Tour - Montgomery, ALWorst Hotel - Courtyard - Montgomery, ALBiggest Disappointment - Atlanta CapitolWorst City - Montgomery, AL
Given that all we did in Orlando was drive to the hotel and sleep, this isn't a terribly hard wrap-up. I'm sure the last phase will be the hardest to write.
